The TBRQ+SVG variable-frequency soft starter with reactive power compensation cabinet is a comprehensive, intelligent motor-control device independently developed by Xiangyang Tenghui Electrical Manufacturing Co., Ltd. At its core, the device employs a high-speed DSP chip for control and utilizes “high-to-high” technology—direct high-voltage input and direct high-voltage inverter output—and integrates series-connected multi-level power-unit technology. At its core is a high-speed DSP chip, and it employs “high–high” topology—direct high-voltage input and direct high-voltage inverter output—and integrates series-connected multi-level power-unit technology. This device seamlessly combines soft starting, dynamic reactive-power compensation, voltage regulation, and harmonic mitigation, with each performance parameter surpassing that of conventional equipment. It is a truly high-performance, multifunctional, integrated smart solution.

The high-voltage TBRQ+SVG variable-frequency starting cabinet features a high power factor, high reliability, high efficiency, low harmonic distortion, low losses, easy maintenance, and a compact footprint, making it a truly intelligent motor control device that significantly enhances grid stability and reliability while improving the overall grid environment.

After employing this device, the motor’s inrush current is limited to no more than twice its rated current, and the power factor can be stabilized at or above 0.99. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, including power systems, industrial settings, high-speed rail and urban rail transit, wind and solar power generation, telecommunications, and data centers.

The system can also incorporate SVG functionality; upon startup, users can select the “SVG Function” to perform power-factor correction for the cabinet’s grid, achieving a power factor of 0.95 or higher.

Performance Features

Starting and switching current: The starting and switching current shall not exceed 1.5 times the motor’s rated current.

Starting power factor: ≥0.99.

Start-up time: adjustable from 10 to 60 seconds.

Seamless switching: After the variable-frequency start-up frequency rises to 50 Hz, the system automatically switches to line frequency.

Built-in pre-charge function: prevents excessive inrush current during transformer energization, which could trip the upstream switchgear.

The power units are configured in a cascaded topology, allowing for interchangeability and easy disassembly.

SVG Function: Can compensate the power factor of a single motor to 0.95 or higher.

  IV. Basic Principles

 

The structure of the TBRQ+SVG series high-voltage variable-frequency soft-start cabinet system is shown in the figure above and consists of a phase-shifting transformer, power-unit controllers, and bypass vacuum contactors. The 3 kV series comprises 9 (or 12 for the plateau version) power units, with three (or four) power units connected in series to form one phase. The 6 kV series includes 15 (or 24 for the plateau version) power units, with five (or eight) power units connected in series to form one phase, while the 10 kV series features 24 (or 30) power units, with eight (or ten) power units connected in series to form one phase.

VII. Single-Line Diagram (Soft Start)

Explanation: The system first performs a variable-frequency soft start by closing switch AH4. Once the variable-frequency system completes its soft-start sequence—after detecting the grid’s frequency, amplitude, and phase—it seamlessly transitions to line-frequency operation without disturbance, at which point bypass switch AH5 closes. The soft-start system then ceases operation. Subsequently, the selector switch is set to “SVG mode,” whereby the existing variable-frequency system, again performing frequency, amplitude, and phase detection, dispatches reactive power to be injected into the grid via switch AH3 for compensation.
